Therapies

I am an LCSWA specializing in trauma treatment for adults. My focus is on supporting resilience and regulation. We will work together to develop the best treatment plan for your needs.

I am trained in Somatic Experiencing® and Transforming Touch® therapies. Both therapies address the underlying physiology of trauma, stress, and dysregulation.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing® is a method of resolving trauma by supporting the body to complete the biological survival responses blocked in an overwhelming situation.  The incomplete survival responses might be fight, flight, or freeze states. These responses can show up as anxiety, irritation/anger, and depression. They may also be held as other somatic symptoms, such as pain, inflammation, autoimmune issues, insomnia, or digestive problems.

Somatic Experiencing® uses awareness of one’s own body and sensations (along with emotions, memory, and meaning) to help the body move through the overwhelming experience into the feeling of safety.

Transforming Touch

Transforming Touch® was created as a way to help address early trauma.  With developmental trauma, early events and conditions shape how the nervous system forms.  The nervous system is the platform on which the rest of life builds, as the nervous system’s function impacts everything from emotional regulation to digestion, sleep, and immune function.

When the cause of the nervous system dysregulation is from the earliest years, from pre-cognitive and pre-verbal periods, touch can be helpful to access and build upon resilience and regulation.  Transforming Touch® can address issues that aren’t easily accessible with traditional talk therapy.
